Description:

A security guard in Wiggins patrols and monitors buildings and other areas to prevent or stop incidents, such as theft or violence. Security guards are responsible to answer alarms, and may apprehend or detain individuals who pose a threat to security. A private security guard provides safety for their employers by guarding against violations of the law.. A security guard may also monitor people as they enter and exit the building or perform secure activities, such as handling cash . In a mobile security position, the private guards may patrol and monitor in cars or on foot. Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry. Obtains help by sounding alarms.

Responsibilities:

  • Document, usually daily, the activities, including disturbances, that occurred. Clients then use the reports to assess potential damage from the disturbance.
  • Ensure alarm systems, doors, and windows are all secure and properly working
  • May interview witnesses and/or testify in court
  • Communicate closely with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical personnel
  • Patrol and inspect property to protect it from fire, theft, vandalism, or other criminal activities
